FAQs

  • Do we do any other activities besides walking on these trips?

While walking is the main activity on many of our trips, the activities and amount of walking is totally dependent on the specific trip. Please contact us if you would like to request more information on a specific trip.

  • Do I have to be in good shape in order to attend?

For each trip there we provide an activity level 1-4 and a maximum walking distance and elevation gain to help you to better understand which trips are right for you. We recommend that you enjoy hiking and are comfortable walking the distance that we share. If you would like to learn more please refer to our activity levels.

  • What will our sleeping accommodations look like?

Our sleeping accommodations will range from 1st class hotels and charming country inns to an occasional mountain refuge. If you would like to learn more please refer to our accommodation levels

The trip cost includes in-trip transportation, lodging, all food except for a couple meals, local guides, Blue Sky guides, and planned cultural experiences. The trip cost does not include airfare and transportation to gateway city.

We have no set age requirement, but rather prefer to discuss with the parents or guardians if they believe their child is capable of participating.

  • What if I have a physical disability?

Please inform us ahead of time if you have a physical disability so that we can discuss if the trip will be a good fit for you or not! We are pleased to try our best to make any trek accessible for most disabilities.

You do not need to speak any other language to attend! We will be able to speak English with our local guides, and hopefully pick up on some of the local languages as well if you don’t already speak it.

We recommend bringing a smaller duffel bag or suitcase as well as a comfortable backpack that is around 35-40L. A more detailed packing list will be sent upon booking confirmation.

We recommend shoes that you can walk in for at least 15 miles that will not give you blisters or cause you to be uncomfortable. We personally love to trek in trail running shoes instead of boots.

  • Do we have to carry all of our belongings on the trek?

No! We will be able to store your luggage or have it transferred each day. We will just be trekking with a small daypack carrying daily essentials.

  • Should I get trip insurance?

We highly recommend purchasing trip insurance through us. Things don’t always go according to plan and it’s always smart to have backup protection. If you’re interested, please contact us about the policy we offer.

  • Will I have cell service or wifi?

If you have an international cell plan, you might have service in the towns. Otherwise, we will be out of touch when in the mountains and wi-fi will be available each evening at the hotel or refuge.
